What Causes Severe Upper Abdominal Pain While On Methotrexate?
Hi, I am having a sharp pain in the middle of my upper abdomen just below my breast for about a week or so. it seems to get worse everyday. I had the nesson?? surgery for reflux about 8 to 10 years ago. I have rheumatoid arthritis and take anti-inflammatories including methotrexate and enbril. Sometimes, this pain is so sharp it takes my breath. I was thinking that it could be gastritis or possibly my medication causing irritation. I cannot get an appt with my doctor for several weeks. Is this something that I should be worried about?? Is there something I can do until I can see my doctor. Should I try to get into see another doctor sooner??
Methotrexate given for Rheumatoid arthritis can cause bone marrow depresion and elevation in liver enzymes . Please get an Ultrasound abdomen to rule out any gallbladder and Liver lesion. please get your CBC with differential count as well as your liver function testsAlso Get an EKG also to rule out inferior wall ishemia which can produce stomach pain. I know that it is not very easy to see the specialist in a short time but you can see your primary care doctor at a short notice
