What Causes Sharp Pain In Arms?

I have been having horrible sharp pain in the left arm between the elbow and shoulder at the strangest moments, just a simple little movement of the arm or reaching for something, this has gone on for 5 - 6 months, my doctor said it was tendonitis, but I ve looked into the internet and it could be something to do with my severe osteoarthritis of my right hip (surgery is planned) it also said it could be something to do with adhevsions. (sp) What do you think? Thank you Marci

you must have yourshoulder examined and ifthere is restriction of movementof shoulder espcially rotations or raising of arm, periarthritis shoulder could be cause. also there is chance for supraspinatus tendinitis in upper arm on outer side which may be helped by loca hydrocortisone injectionsor surgery if some calcification is found radiologically (xray/MRI)
