What Causes Sharp Pain In Chest While Playing In A 6 Year Old?

My 6 yet old son just informed me that his chest hurt when he jumped playing basketball or while running. He said it was a sharp pain and had done this for a couple days while running at school. What should I do? Should I be concerned . He does play baseball and other sports

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi thank you for ur query
what you have asked is of great concern. The sharp chest pain in achild could be due to simple gastritis to any thing related to congenital cardiac defects (e.g hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) or vascular lesion .

If their is a history of similar episode in a family member then it is of greater concern .

kindly consult a pediatricion at the earliest and get the investigations done like ecg , echocardiography , chest xray etc

hope you found my answer helpful

good luck
