What Causes Sharp Pain In Left Upper Hip After Injury?

I get a sharp pain in my left upper hip-when I turn leg outward left(away from square).I notice this when playing golf-hitting my golf shot with stiff left leg.could I have a tear in my ligament- about two weeks of this pain. it only hurts at times when leg is turn outward.

This is sprain of the hip ligament.
Treatment rest, ice application for 5 days at least. If pain is severe oral analgesic
.
