What Causes Sharp Pain In The Left Lower Chest?

Hi doc My dad recently got a PPM implanted. Its a single chamber.he got his sutures removed and recovering well. However he has strted complaining abt sharp pain in his left lower chest (near lower ribcage) whle he is sleeping. Whn d position is changed d pain subsides. The tests are all normal. So wht can b d reason for this pain?wht is d remedy for the same? ?

Hello! Thank you for asking on HCM! Regarding you concern I recommend you to perform a chest and backbone X ray study. Seems that we have to do with an extracardiac pain. A cardiac ultrasound would exclude a pericardial involvement. You may try anti-inflammatory drugs for pain relief (like naproxen, ibuprofen, etc). Discuss wit hyour doctor about the results.
