What Causes Sharp Pain When Drinking Or Eating Hot Food?
hi. a few days ago I ate some hot food and as I swallowed, it felt like it got stuck by my sternum as it was slowly goin down to my stomache. now everytime I drink or eat anything hot i get very bad pains lkke its burning. don t know if I have done any damage o r not...
Noted your history albeit short and specific. Yes, it seems that the hot thing you consumed caused some sort of esophagitis making it more sensitive particularly to hot things that you are swallowing: Hence I would advise you the following: First of all, avoid anything that is hot or even warm. Avoid spicy and oily foods. Take a PPI like Omeprazole. Antacids every three hourly. And see the results. If no effect then consult your Doctor for an appointment for an upper GI Endoscopy and further management as per the cause found.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant, General Surgeon
