What Causes Shivering ,vomiting And Fever After A Preterm Delivery?
hi , my wife is feeling shivering ,vomitting and fever 102 F. she had delivery 24 days ago with c section. its preterm delivery because her bp was high. can any one tell me what reason could be for shivering vomitting and fever . shivering was extermly and it has happened 2 time in 3 days. she is feeding baby but since baby is preterm so she is not able to feed much and there is some nodes of milk generated in both breast .
Hello, The cause of such fever with chills can be due to milk retention in the breasts as the baby is unable to take feeds properly, infection anywhere in the body ranging from the breast, uterus, urinary tract, viral, surgical wound etc. Please let her see a physician for a proper evaluation. Tepid sponging and paracetamol should help tide over the fever. Please also make sure that her blood pressure is within the normal range. Anti-emetics may be given to control vomiting. Increase intake of liquids. Take care.
