What Causes Shooting Pain In The Thumb?

I have shooting pain in the tip of my thumb every time I brush it up against anything and whhen it get cold as well. No matter the pain get really intense for a few minutes. I have been checked for arthritis and I have had blood work for rhomitoid arthritis I do not have either one. What could be wrong with my hand. Its only on the left hand

Hi, Welcome to healhcaremagic. After going through your query I concluded that you may be having glomus tumour of nail bed as you are having severe sudden shooting pain when touched. You need to be clinical examination by Orthopedician, get your X ray and MRI done to confirm it . For pain relief you can take ibuprofen. It's treatment is surgical excision.
