What Causes Short Piercing Pain In The Lower Left Rib Cage?

I have random short piercing pain in the lower left rib cage. I was in a car accident 12 years ago. Hit a tree going 28 mph and the seatbelt pushed my rib cage outwards on the left side. Like I have one peck sticking out, and the bottom of my left rib cage curves out instead of straight down. I ve gotten xrays but they say they see nothing wrong. Wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions what causes the pain. Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an inflammatory pain arising from the injuries of old trauma. Other causes like costochondritis also are looked for.
As of now, you can use analgesics/anti-inflammatory combination like aceclofenac/serratiopeptidase for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
