What Causes Shortness Of Breath After A Stent Insertion?

zI used to be a binge drinker. I had a mild blood clot and had a stent in February 2012. I quit alcohol after that but a month ago again I started binging vodka. I have been experiencing mild sensation of shortness of breath (for last three weeks) ONLY when I climb stair. I dont feel nothing if I walk briskly or even run. I am going for a stress test after five days. Please comment. I have a experience of shortness of breath prior to first heart attack. It lasted for a month and I used to have shortness of breath even while walking.

Shortness of breath after exertion may be because of cardiac dysfunction or may be because of lung pathology or it may be because of anaemia . As you have mentioned you already had a stent so you are at high risk of cardiac dysfunction . You have not mentioned what treatment you are re taking at present . Because after stenting you have to take few medicines that will help you in recovery from heart damage and prevent further heart attack.at this time you shortness of breath on doing more than ordinary activities . It's an initial stage of cardiac dysfunction if diagnosed . So I would like to suggest you that you should meet to your physician or cardiologist for further opinion and echocardiography and rule out any lung pathology . . Discus about medicine and get your hemoglobin level checked . Hope this will help.
