What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Herceptin?
I am on herceptin for breast cancer. It was stage 1 and a month ago I finished a 12 week course of taxol. I have done very well with both. However this week I have have had difficulty with deep breathing. It feels like when I have just eaten a large meal and it restricts you from breathing deep breaths. No pain; no other symptoms other than waking with a dull headache.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
1. Chemotherapy induced breathing difficulty like paclitaxel may cause lung fibrosis.
2. Chemotherapy may cause anemia lead to insufficient oxygenation lead to breathing difficulty.
3.Assosiated COPD, pneumonia due to immune depression.
4.anxiety caused by fears of recurrence, the lasting emotional effects of having had cancer, or other types of stress.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
