What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Blood Pressure Medication?
Am am a healthy 73 year old man. I am on a high blood pressure medication that seems to be under control. Recently however, I ve noticed a shortness of breath for conducting the smallest of things - such as going up stairs, walking up a slight hill. This is not like me. Also, I have been experiencing some fatigue (not unusual) but it is also something that started around the same time as the shortness of breath. What would be your professional suggestion?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hypertension with shortness of breath may be due to heart failure or anemia or ischemic heart disease etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid salt containing food, and alcohol. Please consult your cardiologist he will do a scan to the heart and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
