What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Medication For High BP?
I am finding a shortness of breath even for doing menial tasks. eg putting on makeup to go out. I am on heart tablets for high blood pressure and have a stabbing tightness, in the heart area on a daily basis. I am 74 and have always been active until now. this has been for a good 12 months now since it started with the shortness of breath. I am a non smoker but have been around smokers most of my life, even working in the Club Industry for 20 years when smoking was allowed. Is this a chronic problem from high blood pressure ? Thank you for reading my question. Regards Jacquie
Hello Jacquie! Thank you for your question! Regarding your concerns about shortness of breathing and that stabbing pain I recommend you to consult your cardiologist in order to check out your physical situation and make some examx ECG, blood tests, chest x-ray films, etc). You belong now to the aged persons and have at leat 2 coronary risk factors: high blood pressure and smoking ( passive smoking is as important or even worse than active one); thus the very fist thing to do is to rule out coronary heart problems. So don't panic; just consult the cardiologist! Hope to have been helpful to you. Best Regards. Dr. Iliri
