Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
FOR an extreme athlete (78 wrestling with 18 year-olds, pulse UP NOW to 56), VERY short of breath with LIGHT exercise bike and leg and calf press machines (HEAVY 315 lbs.) after only two strip sets, or sitting down only upper breathing, laboring for shallow breaths. Stress test--easier than usual--and echo cardiogram okay. Bent over a bit. Prescribed inhalers did not help.
Hi,welcome to HCM. Athletes are more prone to develop hyperdynamic heart failures.I strongly recommend you to have a baseline EKG and a 2 dimensional echo.Reduce the quantity of weights used.Drugs like antiplatelets can prevent cardiac attacks.Consult your cardiologist for further queries. Thank you
