What Causes Shoulder Blade Pain After Having Miralax For Bloating?
I had an x-ray done of my stomach last week due to it being bloated. I was told to take MiraLAX for five days to get cleaned out. It has been five days but have not gone very often. I am now experiencing pain between the shoulder blades and mid chest bone. Would that be due to the pressure of not being able to go?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history about being bloated hence done the X-ray of the abdomen and advised to take Miralax to clear the bowel. Not much happened but started getting pain between shoulder blades and mid chest bone. Wants to know whether this is due to pressure of not going for motion. The pain in the area between shoulder blades and the mid chest bone is usually due to esophagitis and not related to the intestinal conditions directly. I would advise you the following: Get the upper GI endoscopy done for proper diagnosis and management. Get started with a PPI like Omeprazole Antacid and bland diet. Get Saline soap enema for bowel evacuation as Miralax alone is not helping. Continue Miralax or ask for another laxative like Cremaffin plus. Furthermore tests of colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen may be required to rule out cancer or such lesions.
