What Causes Sickness After Inhaling Sewer Gas?

My husband come home and said he had been exposed to sewer gas for about 3 hours and it was when he come out of the bathroom when he realized it. He felt very sick. Is there after effects that we should watch for? He had been putting a new floor in a home and had the pot removed for that long.

Sewer gas contain sometime toxic gases like hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, methane , sulphur dioxide etc....
Usually no danger side effect occurs...

But close watch up necessary.
It can irritate respiratory tract and can lad cough, dyspnea , headache , dizziness etc...
Avoid smoking....
If no recovery and secondary infection like pneumonia suspected then chest x ray needed....
