What Causes Skin Hives While On Miralax?

My daughter is three years old and has abdominal pain, we have been told its constipation. She takes maralax for it. In the last couple days she had developed hives as well. I am unaware of anything new in her diet, no new medications, no new soaps ect. Could these symptoms be related and if so what do these combined point to?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your case history of Urticaria, my treatment advice is:

1. Avoid fast food and food with artificial colors for 2 months.
2. Apply a soothing lotion like Calamine lotion on the affected region.
3. Take an antihistamine medicine like Levocetirizine for 7 to 10 days.
4. Another treatment option is an oral steroid, Hydroxyzine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
