What Causes Skin Lesions Around Mouth, Hands And Genital Area?

My 9 month old has skin lesions around his mouth, on his hands, and in his diaper area. A culture of the fluid from a lesion showed it is Serratia liquefaciens. 4 other young children at his daycare have the same symptoms. How is it treated and how can another outbreak be prevented?

Hi... I sympathize with the kid and understand your concern. As a matter of fact even my kid had this when young. The trick of the management is keeping the skin moist and never allowing it to be dry. For this oil massage and lotions like Oilatum will help. Regarding cure options - eczema is a sort of allergy...allergies can only be controlled and can never be cured. But usually kids grow out of it...that is as the age progresses, they become better starting from 6-12 months.
