What Causes Skin Peeling And Redness On The Toes?

About 4 weeks ago both the palms and soles of my feet got red with a very visible and clear line on the side of my palms and side of my big toes. They felt warm to touch. Since then the skin of my palms has started to peel and just recently also my soles. My fingers are cracked and sore despite liberal moisturising. My fingers were swollen but not anymore. Everything feels silky smooth to me despite the condition of my hands. My toes have bronwn lines on them, there is also a bronwn spot on my ankle and a dry brown spot just under my knee cap. There has been some tingeling and numness to my toe and finger tips. Other than that no other sings of brown spots, redness, dryness anywhere else. I m a 42 old woman, caucasian and healthy. I am still nursing our 22 mo old and have been under a lot of stress this year.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to athletes foot which is a fungal infection. I suggest using an anti-fungal cream for local application such as Clotrimazole cream. I also suggest using Fluconazole 150 mg once. I recommend to maintain a good hygiene and use breathable shoes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
