Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past few days, my heart has felt very unusual. Every 30 seconds to 1 minute, my heart seems to pause then resume forcefully. I can feel the skipped beat every time it happens, and it causes a tight feeling in my chest that is almost painful. I'm wondering if I should be concerned or if this is normal.
Hi, From your description it can be assumed you have extrasystolies (premature heart beats), which is a type of arrythmias. If you are young and don't have structural heart disease it can be benign. It can be caused from stress, try to avoid stress, follow healthy lifestyle. If your complains continue after some time, I would advise you to do an ECG, check your thyroid and serum electrolytes as potassium.
Wish you good health.
In case of further questions don't hesitate to ask.
