What Causes Sleepiness And Burning In Feet With High Cholesterol?
Hi I am 53 years of age and over the last few months I feel very sleepy all the time even during the daytime I have slightly raised cholestrol but no diabetes. I am overweight . My height is 5' 11 and my weight is 18 stones I am not on any medication. Last year i had a heart scan and was told that i have some furring of the arteries I get burning at the soles of my feet at times during night. Please could you help
Daytime sleepiness and being significantly overweight makes me think of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, a condition in which people stop breathing several times during each night, and wake up repeatedly during sleep (without realizing they are doing so). You definitely need to see a local physician and have a full evaluation with blood tests, including blood sugar and thyroid testing, as well as an Overnight Sleep Study.
Sleep Apnea can lead to continued weight gain, hypertension, high lipids, diabetes, car accidents from "accidental" falling asleep, heart attacks and strokes, and is something that is treatable if it is diagnosed.
I am not sure what you mean by "furring of the arteries." Burning of the soles of your feet could be due to lower back problems or from neuropathy. That should be evaluated by a thorough physical exam by your doctor also.
Good luck.
