Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take 300 mg of Lyrica everyday and I have noticed some changes is how I talk such as not saying things correct of forget what to call something when I am staring at it. Some of my family and friends have noticed it to. Can it be related to the medicine?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Lyrica may indeed cause the symptoms you've experienced (and many more) particularly when taken at doses - like the dosage you were using. One of the most common side effects is difficulty to concentrate on something which makes the patient less able to respond promptly on various stimuli (including naming objects).
You can talk with your doctor about this side effect. Perhaps a lower dosage may retain the beneficial effects of this drug without causing serious side effects. My advice is to avoid making any changes to your regimen without talking with your doctor first.
I hope you find my comments helpful! Please get back to me if you'd like more information or any clarification.
Kind Regards!
