Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 72 year old husband has been working in a shed that does not have air conditioning. Our weather has been 100. He has been sort of slurring his words the past few days. He said he was drooling out if the side of his mouth the past couple of days. He seems fine other than that. Do we need to have him evaluated for stroke. Will he get worse if he did have a stroke
After going through your query I understand your concern for your husband.
It's advisable for you to take immediate medical attention. In a stroke time is money. Right treatment at the right time is required. He will be fine , take him to the Emergency immidiatly or call the ambulance.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. One of the causes for slurred speech is infarction or hemorrhage in brain. Other cause could be as a symptom of Parkinson's disease. Since your husband is elderly man, it is better that you consult Neurologist and get him examined clinically. Also, he might need investigations like CT scan to determine what could be the underlying cause. Hope the information provided helps. All the best. Regards, Dr.Ashakiran.S.
