Hi. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
I would keep a possibility of
scabies. It is caused by a mite called
sarcoptes scabiei. The mite is acquired by close contact with an infected person. Sexual contact with an infected partner is a possible route of transmission.
Scabies can cause itchy lesions at various body sites like groin (
scrotum and penis), lower abdomen, thighs, chest and neck. The itching is specially troublesome at night.
If i was the treating doctor i would have asked you to apply a 5% permethrin cream/ lotion or 1% Gamma benzene Hexachloride lotion, single application, whole body except face and keep it overnight for at least 8 hours.
It is a prescription drug and therefore I would suggest that you talk to your doctor for the needful
An OTC oral antihistamine like
Hydroxyzine or
cetrizine once or twice daily will help control the itch
It is advisable to wash all the clothes including bed sheets, towels, pillow covers, handkerchiefs etc to prevent reinfection
