What Causes Smelly Stools With Gas In Females?

For two years now I've suffered with soft stools which I know sounds silly but smell terrible and also wind/gas which is also terrible smelling ....I'm a women aged 38 and to be honest when this happens my friends all say it's not normal for me to smell like that ....what's wrong with me
