What Causes Sore Soft Palette And Difficulty In Swallowing?
Hello - I have allergies and my soft palette is so sore right now I can barely sleep or swallow. I keep getting sharp pain/tickles that make me want to cough all over my hard palette too. Please let me know what I can take to ease the horrible discomfort. All I m taking now is loratadine 10 mg. which usually helps on a daily basis, but not for the past 2 nights.
I think you are having allergic pharyngitis. It may be due to acid reflux from the stomach or due to allergy. You can take Betadine gargle and warm saline gargle in between.
Take Pantoprazole tablet to reduce the acid reflux. Drink more liquids preferably warm. Avoid smoking, alcohol. You can take Allegra for short term treatment.
This irritation can be due to post nasal drip from allergic mucin from the nose. You can take saline nasal spray to clear the mucin. Try to avoid spicy food, junk food. This will not let the medicine work.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
