What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty In Swallowing?
I am a 34 years old female nonsmoker. Over the past year I've developed "red halos" around my tonsils. My throat is sore at times, but nothing severe. I have difficulty swallowing sometimes and pain when I swallow. I have seen an ENT specialist twice. I was told that my symptoms were a result of chronic tonsillitis. Should I get a second opinion
I have gone through your query regarding your throat problem (recurrent sore throat and difficulty in swallowing).
As you have told about the view of your throat and the symptoms, it appears that you are suffering from chronic tonsillitis. If you want to get second opinion than you may consult any other ENT doctor for examination, because examination is must for giving second opinion.
If it is chronic tonsillitis than curative treatment is only operation, and one very important thing which I would like to tell you that enlarged & hypertrophied tonsils are well known for giving shelter to strep therefore to prevent further complications one should take the effective decision.
Regards.
