What Causes Sore Throat And Difficulty Swallowing With Normal Tests?

I have had a sore throat for a month and discomfort when swallowing without food; no fever. I also have thick white mucus which tastes sour. I was initially cleared of strep in a ER test. A week later I had a thorough exam by an ENT MD who did not find anything wrong. I am frustrated because my symptoms persit.

it can be evaluated with x- ray pns and laryngoscopy.
