What Causes Sore Throat, Dizziness And Chest Pain?
I had a cold about 3weeks ago. About four days in , I got severe sore throat with white spots on left tonsil. Dr took culture and immediately prescribed a 10 day course of amox clav. I felt much better after the first three doses. However, 7 days into the course, I experienced severe neck pain, dizziness, and chest pain. I went to emergency room and they told me to discontinue taking the amox clav. 4 days later, I had a very bad sire throat on the other tonsil which then turned into what I can only guess is a sinus infection. Terrible pain in throat, nose, cheekbones, jaws, ears and neck. Called pcp who prescribed 5 day zpack. Question- how long will the zpack take to work? Honestly, I haven t been in this much pain since I broke my clavicle. Any insight you could provide would be helpful and very much appreciated.
Z pack is having Azithromycin drug. It usually starts its effect in 2 to 3 days. Since it is already 5 days and your symptoms are worsening, you need higher injectable antibiotic, painkiller and anti-inflammatory drugs.
So, it is better to consult an ENT doctor and start above mentioned treatment. You might need CT scan of sinuses to rule out sinusitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
