What Causes Sore Throat, Fever, Severe Headache, Runny Nose And Flu Symptoms?

I started having sore throat , thick phlegm , severe headache, fever last Friday . Went to urgent care . Strep & flu - negative. Then progress to coughing , drippy nose like water , tempt. 102-104 F with chills q 4 hrs. Headache didnot subside for 3 days on top of 3 Advil & 2 Fioricet ( hx migraine ) call back urgent care on Saturday - Rx given regular for migraine, phenergan w/ codeine q HS , tessalon pearles for daytime I was also Rx augmentin 875mg ( which the ER MD said to stop it). For the meantime headache, chills & fever continue q 4-6 hours w/ Advil & Fioricet. Coughing got worse rib pain started . Sunday woke up with severe rib pain . Seen at ED . CXR Negative with Pna . Nausea , fever, headache , malaise, cough, rib pain persist . What should I do now ? I did everything , obviously it s viral. What is the new virus & what is the cure . Is it just rest. I ran out of idea. I am an ER RN .

In my opinion, for a correct diagnosis is necessary a CT scan of your lungs and culture of your bronchial secretions.Only after such evaluation a more precise treatment should be started.Discuss with your Doctor about getting evaluated further.
