What Causes Sore Throat, Sinus Congestion, Drainage And Ulcers On Uvula?
I ve had a horrible sore throat since Friday evening. I felt feverish Friday and Saturday. I do not have my tonsils, but noticed today as I continue to have a sore throat, sinus congestion and drainage, that it looks as though there are a few ulcers on my uvula. Could this be strep, even though I do not have my tonsils?
Hello Thanks for posting your query in HCM. Sorethroat can affect any oral structures such as pharynx, uvula, tonsils. In your case uvula has been affected. Usually streptococcal throat will be severe than viral sore throats. You will require throat swab to be taken for culture and sensitivity. Start on anti inflammatory such as voltaren sachets. keep in throat for few seconds before swallowing. Once swab results come, antibiotics can be started if required.
