What Causes Sore Throat With White Color In Throat?
I have had a bad virus for a month now. I had to take anitbiotics. Since taking them I have felt nauseous and had a not 100%. I thought I was better but today I had a sore throat so I looked into my mouth and notices the roof and back of my mouth is yellow and my throat is whitish. Have I got oral thrush? What should I do? I am taking probiotics to counter the antibiotics. Thank you

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore throat along with white color in throat is due to granular pharyngitis along fungal infection of oral cavity. You are suffering from fungal infection known as Oral thrush and can occur in many people who take antibiotics as the antibiotics tend to kill even the good bacteria. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Maintain proper oral hygiene and take nystatin suspensions.
Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (penicillin or amoxicillin ) or anti viral drug depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants and anti inflammatory . Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances , do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages.
