Hello,

I can understand your concern. Depo Porvera shots are supposed to be taken four times a year so I am assuming that you stopped taking the shot after the last shot and decided to go off it and after about 8 months of elimination of its protection from pregnancy (you were protected for the 3 months of shot), you have missed a period. I am going to answer your question based on my this understanding.

As you were expecting your period and because they were delayed, you took the home pregnancy test, you have not tested early. Two negative pregnancy tests confirm that you are not pregnant.

In addition, it might be possible that as you are already having symptoms of premenstrual period, you might get it in a few days. However, if you are delayed for more than 10 days for your periods while having negative pregnancy test, it is time to go for physical examination by a gynecologist. You might have to go for blood test and sonogram. If no cause is found, you may get prescription of synthetic progesterone (Duphaston) from your doctor that will help in inducing periods and you will have to observe your cycle next month.

I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
