What Causes Soreness In Mouth After Having Alcohol?
I m an alcoholic. I ve been drinking heavily for the past year and decided to quit. I ve noticed that when I would drink far too much, the roof of my mouth would be sore to the point where I could barely eat or drink fluids. I finally gave in and am seeking treatment for alcoholism, but the roof of my mouth is still sore since my last binge (3 days ago). I haven t had a drop of alcohol and have been drinking juice and water. It s never lasted more than a day. What could cause this?
Cannot say without a direct exam BUT, alcohol taken in large amounts can be plain irritating. There is at least some possibility with heavy drinking that there was direct trauma to the area (bottle hitting the roof of mouth). In theory there can be ohter possibilities such as an infection or tumor but these are highly unlikely.
