What Causes Soreness In The Throat And Stuffy Nose?

My sister was in the hospital, and was on antibiotics, but i don't know what for. Now i'm sick, and i have been for about 2 days. My nose it stuffed, and my throat is very sore, i get a pain in my chest when i swallow, yawn, or take a deep breathe. What could be wrong?

Thanks for the query..

The symptoms seems to be like that of upper respiratory tract infection also known as Common Cold.

It is a viral infection and at times there can be a secondary bacterial infection along with viral.

You should take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, tylenol for pain, decongestants to relieve nasal and chest congestion like Pseudoephadrine, mucolytics like Ambroxol, do steam inhalations and warm saline gargles..
Sip on warm water throughout the day..
Take sufficient rest..
Throat lozenges can also relieve..

In case of no improvement consult an Emergencyroom and get evaluated.
