What Causes Soreness/redness In Throat With Hoarse Voice?

I have a severe soar throat for almost a week now two day ago my voice was hoarse and I could hardly talk. A whisper was strained. I thought I was getting a little better today but I m coughing a lot (high pitched, dry and usually unproductive). Taking my albuteral inhaler helps a little but not for very long. I also notice recently my throat is red but has red or purple vein like lines all over. My nose started running today too. Any idea what it is?

It seems from the history that you are having soreness of throat with hoarse voice and running nose. This can be because of upper respiratory tract infection with acute pharyngitis or laryngitis. This requires treatment by the use of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Use of salt warm water for gargling and decongestant drugs will provide symptomatic relief.

Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.
