What Causes Soreness, Yellow Pustules And Pain In One Side Of Throat?

I'm a 19 year old female. I have often had strep and many throat problems. Lately, one side of my throat will become very sore and a whitish yellow pustule will form. After a little while, it becomes extremely sore and after a moment of excruciating pain it pops out of the slit in my tonsil. A few hours after this occurs it seems like the pain subsides almost all together. The mass itself can be easily broken open. They vary in size but can be as small as a pea and as large as a medium sized grape.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi, this features suggest acute on chronic tonsillitis. The follicles which forms on the medial wall along the crypt get enlarged due to accumulation of debris which causes the tonsil enlargement and pain. once it rupture the pain relieved and swelling subsides redness reduces. After age 16 the tonsil has no immune role. consult the ENT Dr for surgery if needed otherwise it will cause frequent URI and affect your heart kidneys and joints. Take Care.
