Hi. I m writing concerning my mother, who is 80. Recently she had strep throat. Now she has sores in her throat. Her doctor ordered a CATscan, which came back negetive for tumors. Now he wants to put her under and perform a scope/biopsy because he doesn t know what they are. Is this necessary? She has a history of getting yeast infections in her mouth when she s taking antibiotics. Couldn t it just be that?
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The sore throat can be related to a yeast infection. I suggest to do a throat culture for further evaluation. Meanwhile,I suggest using a throat spray for antibacterial properties. I also recommend using an anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation.
Hope my answer was helpful.
