What Causes Spasm Under Rib Cage Near The Sternum?
When I bend forward, I get a strong spasm on either my right side or left, mostly right, just under my ribcage. It s almost as if something slips out from under the ribcage and balls up. Usually it s toward the upper rib, near the sternum. Or just down from there... what is causing this?
As you have mentioned it seems that you have pain or spasm that is in intercostal muscles that is muscles connecting ribs.or it may be because of inflammation or stretching of costal cartilages.these cartilages connect medial end of ribs to sternum.it is purely musculoskeletal and it will be relieved by some pain killers and topical application of muscle relaxant with pain killers . Don't stretch them to much causing pain..slowly it will heal .x ray and other tests will not show any thing . So plz discuss this with your physician he will examine you for local tenderness and smasm .and if found he will prescribe you medicine for this..hope this will help.
