What Causes Spotting After Periods?

Hi I just had My period 3 weeks ago and I ve been spotting since last week this has never happened to me. What could be the cause if this could it be that I am pregnant. I took a pregnancy test already but it came out negative and I am suppose to get my actual period Nov. the 13 what s wrong???
