What Causes Spotting And Abdominal Discomfort Post IUD Insertion?

Hi. I had an emergency c-section after 21hrs of labor (2.5 were active labor but he was too big / my pelvic opening to small to burth him vaginally) about 9mo ago. Now, i ve had about 2 full periods and some irregular spotting at most. After giving up on breastfeeding due to low milk production, I began taking hormonal birth control at about 3mo postnantal. I experiences a resurgence of my (believed to be hormonally related) migraine condition, so I had an IUD inserted about 2-3 weeks ago when i *should* have been menstruating. I was told to expect the procedure to inspire my menses, but it did not - I have had some spotting but very little. Now, I began to have some abdominal discomfort at night when lying down. I am concerned that something may be going on as a result of my c-section, particularly because I had a history of multiple miscarriages before my son was conceived. Should I be worried about a condition like Asherman s syndrome, or something else, or am I being a hypochondriac?

Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your case, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.

Please get USG done to assure about normal placement of IUD.

To stop the spotting use Tab PAUSE MF as needed. Your abdominal discomfort can be due to some mild infection or inflammation, which can be corrected with Cap Doxycycline course for a week.

If needed use of Tab REGESTRONE twice a day for 5 days from day 21 to 25 of the cycle for 3 months will help to get regular menses and can help to get rid off spotting.

I hope my answer helps you.
Thanks.
Wish you great health.
