Hi I went to my OBGYN this week I was advised that my uterine lining was 1.7. I am 38 I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and no children. My OBGYN wants to do a DNC and also a biopsy on an outpatient procedure. I have been irregular since my cycle began at age 17. I can not take any birth control because I m one of the small percentile that develop blood clots and had pulmonary embolism over ten years ago, just recently my cycle has been regular for over two years with no medication. The only reason I went to my OBGYN was because of spotting and my stomach was huge and I m very bloated. I am just really concerned this will be my fourth DNC! Any advice??.
Hello, Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. It is very unfortunate that you cannot use hormones because these are the mainstay of management of PCOD. As the endometrium is thickened and there is always a risk of abnormal pattern, please go ahead with the procedure as suggested by your doctor. If you do not wish to have children, endometrial ablation is one option to avoid repeated hyperplasia. Please maintain a healthy lifestyle. Take care.
