What Causes Spotting And Contractions During 34th Week Of Pregnancy After Sex?
hi im nearly 34 weeks pregnant and since me and my partner had sex last night ive had light spotting and tightenings , (we are careful when we have sex not to over do it as it causes discomfort as i have spd). jus wondering if any1 could tell me why im having the spotting and tightening as ive never had this problem before and whether or not to phone the midwife/doctor
After 34 weeks the pregnancy is at a precarious position. The uterus is becoming more and more sensitive and the mouth of the uterus getting more and more softened. Hence we usually do not advice sexual intercourse in the last three months of pregnancy. It is discomforting for the woman as well as there is a risk of pressure on the uterus of the woman.
The spotting could be due to the disturbance of the cervix and pain in abdomen due to insult to the uterus. It is likely that you may start labour pains.
Please take full bed rest. Report to your Obstetrician. If advised, you may have to take some uterine relaxants. If it is imminent labour, you may be given steroid injections for the maturity of the baby. Follow the Obstetrician's advice religiously.
Take care please.
