What Causes Spotting During 17th Week Of Pregnancy?

hello sir, i m 30 years old and weight is 66 kg. i m in my 17th week of my pregnancy. a week before i had a bit spotting and my doctors suggest me to take gestofit injection twice a week. previously i have PIH and undergone c-section and i lost my twin babiees in 7th month. this is my 2nd issue. please tell me is it safe to have gestofit and reasons why spotting happened.

Hello,
The cause of this spotting has to be sorted out first. Progesterone may not be of much use at this stage of pregnancy, though there is no harm in using it. Since you have a history of PIH, it is better to get assessed at this stage of pregnancy in order to take preventive measures if needed. Spotting can happen due to local factors like infections, erosions, polyps also. A speculum examination and swab test and a pap smear can help. A sonogram will help to see the pregnancy status. Wish you safe motherhood.
