Hello, my spouse took four home pregnancies test and all of them shows she s pregnant. They show 1 to 2 weeks pregnant, she had some spotting today and went to the doctor. They did an ultrasound and didn t see any signs of pregnancy, he also drew blood and wanted to do a vaginal ultrasound a week from now to see if the egg was attached on the outside. What else should we look for and ask the doctor on Thursday? everything I read shows that it is pretty normal to not see anything so early.....and people with the same issues are now in there 13th week in pregnancy and everything A ok!
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Spotting or bleeding in early pregnancy can be due to : 1. Ectopic pregnancy, which means that the fertilized egg has implanted outside uterus 2. Abortion 3. Bleeding around the fetus( subchorionic haemorrhage). All these diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound. It is difficult to visualize the pregnancy before5 weeks in a transabdominal ultrasound, therefore a serum beta hCG and transvaginal ultrasound should be done. Possibility of viable pregnancy us there, but it has to confirmed by a transvaginal ultrasound after 1 week. Hope you found the answer helpful . Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
