What Causes Spotting?

I think I started my cycle this morning, because when I wipe there is blood on the tissue; but there isn t any blood coming out onto my pad. I have had this pad on since 6:00 this morning and it is now 5:57 in the evening, and I don t have not one drip of blood on it. WHY IS THAT?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hello,
I have gone through your query and understood the concern. If you have always been regular with your cycles, if you are sexually active without any contraception, pregnancy is the first thing to be thought of. Else, premenstrual spotting can also occur. Do not use a sanitary pad for more than 8 hours even if it is not soaked, to avoid infection. If you do not see any bleeding in a day or two, please see a specialist for further evaluation and plan proper management. Hope this helps.
