What Causes Spreading Of Sustained Sunburn Marks?

My son sustained a sunburn to his neck. His skin has marks that appear dark or dirty on his neck but now the same skin tone is showing up on the skin between his shoulder blades. It almost has a dark gray or blackish tint. That skin was not sunburned. Any thoughts?

Hi.
As per your case history your son is not having sun-burn. He is most probably suffering from pityriasis versicolor - a skin condition mostly appearing on neck and upper back and caused by perspiration and mostly in summer season.
My treatment advice-
1. Maintain proper hygiene. Bath twice daily.
2. Take Food and fluids rich in vitamin c like lemon, orange, amla.
3. Topical ketoconazole lotion can be applied twice daily on that part.
4. Oral anti-fungal maybe considered in severe and resistant cases.

Thanks.
