What Causes Stabbing Pain In Ribs?

Hi my name is Stacy, Im 47 years old non smoker, over weight with uncontrolled DM type 2 along with a few other things. For 3 days now I have been having trouble taking a deep breath, I get a sharp stabbing pain up under my ribs deep behind my liver, so more in my back but then it spreads into my right armpit and the the right mid-sternal area. Do you have any idea what this could be or should I stop being hopeful that it will go away and go to our overcrowded ER?

Sometimes the pain that you are describing can be due to pleurisy, the inflammed pleura.
However as you are overweight, it can also be due to some muscle pull.
I think you can some pain killers like naproxen 500 mg daily twice along with chlorzoxazone tablet twice daily for 5 days
If the pain still persists then you need to see a pulmonogist with a chest xray
