A few months ago I felt my knee weaker when walking down the stairs. At the time I was taking regular exercise classes. After a class my knee felt very stiff and the outer right hand side of knee very sore and stiff but no swelling. My knee hurt and I was limping for a few days. That is 4 months ago now it still feels stiff on stairs or hurt if I kneel on it or gets stiff if I sit with my knee bended on sofa. I have not returned to the exercise glasses yet. It can feel ok some days and then others feel bad again? Please help I am cracking up not being able to go to classes and I am up a stone two!!!!
As per your history there is possibility of soft tissue injury in knee. Most commonly meniscus injury occurs may be associated collateral ligament injury. If pain persists then you may need to do MRI knee to see for any functional defect.
As per your symptoms you need to do physiotherapy and knee exercises to improve range of motion. Rest and ice fomentation along with supportive brace will help to reduce swelling and pain.
Small meniscus tear can be managed conservatively with physiotherapy with USG and TENS. Meniscus injury can be managed by arthroscopic repair.
