i recently retired from the construction field. (active and much movement during days). when i wake up in the morning my legs and feet are very tight and stiff. after walking around for a few minutes they seem to relax. is this something that i should be concerned about? or is this just the result of the fact that i am not as mobile as i was when i was working. thanks
You may need daily exercises to maintain your circadian body rhythm. Exercises which will help-thigh muscles squatting polymeric squatting and calf raises are the best options. All these exercises are best done under the guidance of your physical therapist for best results. You can also do split squat. Stand with back facing a chair (about 2 feet away), hands on hips, and bend left leg behind you to place top of foot on chair seat. Squat, bending right leg 90 degrees with knee over ankle. Make it harder: After each full squat, do a half squat, bending just 45 degrees. Do 15 to 20 reps. Switch legs and repeat. Do 2 to 3 sets. I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out. Wishing you good health.
